How to get Gmail for Tablets with Chrome
If you’ve seen the announcement made by Google on April 2nd about the new Gmail interface for tablets, and you want to try it for yourself, just follow these easy steps.

Two panes layout — New Gmail for Tablets
- Open Google Chrom, navigate to http://www.gmail.com/
- Create an Application Shortcut, and put it on the Desktop.
- Edit the shortcut preferences and add
-user-agent="Mozilla/5.0(iPad; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Safari/531.21.10"to the end of Target, so your entire line should look something like this:C:\Users\Eli\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --app="https://mail.google.com/mail" -user-agent="Mozilla/5.0(iPad; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Safari/531.21.10".
Gmail Properties — Make Gmail think you’re an iPad
- Run the shortcut.
If you’ve done everything the right way, you should now be looking at the new two-pane gmail layout.
