A Hard Top Pillow for a Laptop
I’ve been wanting a hard top pillow for my netbook for quite a while now.
I found the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk, and you have to admit, it looks great:
I went to the nearest, and practically the only, shop that sells these, and costs almost $100. Yea, $100 for a pillow with a hard top.
So for a few weeks I struggled with the idea that I’m going to spend that amount on a pillow with a hard top, this kind of things I usually buy, I like high quality stuff, and I know it will serve me for a long time as I’m used to take care of my crap, so my stuff usually last.
Today I went to a DIY shop, and saw a small wood piece, about 22 inches in width, 15 inches in height and 1 inch thick.
Next I picked up a 26 – 27 inches wide towel-like rug (we use them as tugs for the bath tub), it’s around 40 inches long, and has a very soft texture.
I have a staple gun ready at home, and also picked up a adhesive wallpaper, the kind you put on furniture that you don’t want to paint, but you want them to look a little better.
After sitting for about an hour with the staple gun, and rounding the edges of the wooden board, sticking some wallpaper on top, I’ve managed to create a neat looking and extremely useful hard-top pillow for my netbook.
The Materials Cost (Approximation):
- $6 Wood Board x 1
- $9 Foot Towel x 1
- $8 Pillow x 1
- $0.5 Worth of Adhesive Wallpaper
- Less then $1 Staples for the staple gun
- 1 Hour or less to make
Here is the result:

- Logitech Comfort Lapdesk – The Black Version
- The Eli Lapdesk
